About Me.
Hello! Welcome to first grade! My name is Leyla Amini and I am looking forward to my 30th year of teaching. I started teaching at the Cupertino school district in 2015. I am excited to be teaching first grade! I feel very fortunate to teach in this wonderful community.
I earned an AA in Elementary Education, BA in English, MA in Education, and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I started teaching soon after I was admitted to university which allowed me to apply theory to practice for quite a long time. I have always wanted to be a teacher ever since I was a little girl “playing school.” I truly enjoy teaching and love to work with kids. My goal as your child’s teacher is to create a positive and nurturing learning environment where students learn to work both independently and collaboratively as they continue their journey towards becoming life-long learners. I firmly believe in encouraging children to have a Growth Mindset. When children learn that mistakes are opportunities for growth and that learning the right strategies can help them get better at things, they discover how to believe in themselves, feel empowered, and try harder. When they know their brains are capable of growing, they are not afraid when making mistakes! I anticipate an exciting and productive year and look forward to forming a partnership with you so that together, we can ensure your child’s success in first grade where an academic foundation is built and love for education blossoms. Warm Regards, Leyla Amini |
